Fence company websites that answer the property-line question

Most fence jobs start with a reason: a new dog, a new pool, a new house, a neighbor, or a storm that took out a section. People search with that reason in mind, compare materials on their phone, and ask a few companies for a quote. Your website has to make you the obvious one to call.

This page covers what a fence company's site needs, the Google setup that fits, and how Meta treats fence ads.

Build pages around materials and reasons

Homeowners search by material ("vinyl fence installers", "cedar privacy fence", "chain link fence") and by purpose ("pool fence", "dog fence", "fence repair"). Give each material you install its own page with its own photos, heights, styles and how it holds up in your climate. Add a pool fencing page if you build them, since local pool barrier rules shape what you can install, and a repair page for leaning posts, broken panels and gates that drag.

Commercial security fencing is a different buyer who wants different proof: site photos, gates and access control, property-manager references. Keep it on its own page so it doesn't confuse homeowners.

A quote form that does half the measuring

A fence quote needs more than a name and number. A short form that asks the right things saves you wasted trips:

  • Rough length of the fence, or a sketch on a photo of the yard.
  • The material and height they have in mind.
  • How many gates, walk or drive.
  • Whether an old fence has to come out first.
  • HOA or not, and whether they know where the property line is.

Settle the permit and property-line worries up front

The questions that stall fence sales are rarely about price. Answer them on the site: who pulls the permit, how tall your town allows a fence, whether the HOA must approve the style first, and what happens when nobody is sure where the line is (a survey, or finding the existing pins).

Say that you contact 811 before digging post holes. It's the free national before-you-dig service, and fence installation is one of the jobs it names. Show your license number where your state or town issues one and say you carry insurance: a fence runs right up to the neighbor's yard, and homeowners want to know you're covered.

Photos that work like a catalog

Label every gallery photo with the material, style and height, like "cedar board-on-board privacy" or "black aluminum pool fence". The gallery then doubles as your catalog, and people show up to the estimate already knowing what they want. Add close-ups of gates, hinges and latches, posts set in concrete, and the clean yard after the crew leaves. Before-and-after pairs of storm repairs sell the repair page.

Google profile and the spring rush

Use Fence contractor as your primary category. Add Fence supply store only if customers can walk in and buy materials, and Deck builder or Railing contractor only if you really do that work; Google wants the fewest, most specific categories. Gates and repairs go in your services list, since Google has no category for them.

Spring and early summer fill the calendar fast. Put your current install lead time on the site and keep it updated, so someone booking in March knows what to expect. Ask every finished customer for a review once the last gate is hung; our review guide has the wording.

Facebook ads: answer the Housing question honestly

Meta's Housing category covers ads for a housing opportunity or related service and names housing repairs. Fences aren't named on their own, but replacing or repairing a fence at someone's home is work on residential property, so we declare Housing for residential fence ads. That sets a 15-mile minimum radius and removes age, gender, ZIP-code and lookalike targeting. For a fence company that covers a metro area, the radius rarely gets in the way.

Meta asks the special ad category question when you create a campaign: pick what it asks about for the ad in front of you. A commercial-only security fence ad may not need Housing. A wrong or missing category can get ads paused or rejected. More in our Facebook ads guide.

Google Business Profile

Primary category: Fence contractor. Also worth adding where they fit your work: Fence supply store, Railing contractor, Deck builder.

Facebook & Instagram ads

Meta has counted ads about housing repairs under its Housing special ad category, which means ages 18-65+, all genders and at least a 15-mile radius. We answer Meta's category check for your trade when we set up the campaign, so your ads aren't paused for it.

Questions

Ranges per material help people compare wood, vinyl and chain link before they call, which saves you estimates with the wrong expectations. Say what changes the price: gates, slope, rock, old fence removal and height. The firm number comes after you walk the line.
